Books: CSU by Carolin Terrée

CSU series by Caroline Terrée, published by Éditions Milan

This week I catalogued four books in this CSU series by Caroline Terrée. From what I read in her “remerciements” I think that she is French, but must have spent at least some time in Vancouver (to know it so well).

The CSU : Crime Support Unit is a French language YA series about a young investigator, Kate, and her CSU team in Vancouver. Considering I’m a sucker for all the current CSI tv shows as well as other tv shows, this storyline seemed interesting to me. It also reminds me about the discussion on various blogs not so long ago, such as Tangognat, about tv shows being useful indicators for for reader’s advisory.

I also find it pretty interesting that it’s a French publisher putting out these books, not Québécois so they must be reaching the youth of France (and other French regions) which is cool.

So the four titles so far published are :

Portée disparue : a US senator’s daughter turns up dead in Stanley Park.

Le Phénix: A church in Squamish goes up in a blaze.

Le dragon rouge: A Triad in Vancouver’s Chinatown have a shootout with police.

Mort Blanche: An avalanche rescue team falls into some trouble of their own.

Pretty expensive (around $17 Canadian, 8.50 Euros), but perhaps worth the dough. I hope these get translated into English too!
