Catching up on the gadgets

The recent holidays have brought me a new gadget: an iPod touch. I’ve had iPod envy for awhile. Ideally I’d love a smartphone but with contracts and such it’s just not the right time for a new phone.
So an iPod touch was on my Christmas wish list. My dad likes to ‘spoil’ me now since he says he couldn’t when my brother and I were young.
I’ve had my new toy for about a week. I use it even when I don’t need to. Like now sitting on my living room futon. Though in a way it’s more comfortable to type on than my mac on my lap. So I’m just testing it out seeing what apps I like. One that I like is urbanspoon which is a fun way to choose a place to eat or just read restaurant reviews. As for games, I like TouchHockey. I found that one from one of the guys at the last Montreal tweetup in december when I played it. I also have the CBC and NFB apps that a coworker showed me.
As for library applications, I haven’t delved into them yet. I did hear that Question Point will soon be rolling out a qwidget app so that’ll be cool for our users, though obviously not so much for me. What library or book related apps do you like and recommend?

  1. Kindle and Stanza are two great ebook reading apps.

And careful, apps are addicting. 😉
